It is an honor to begin the 2017-18 school year as your principal. Although I am in a new position, I am not new to the Palermo Union School District nor Palermo School.
I was hired in 1994 to teach sixth grade. Since that time, I have taught sixth grade and seventh grade and most recently, I have been the vice-principal for the last 11 years. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to now be the principal. I am a fan of the Palermo Union School District! I know beyond a doubt, that we have the best staff and the best students around! I would not want to be anywhere else.
As principal, my goals are to provide each student with a meaningful education and to provide opportunities for each student to be a contributing member of this community. I plan to accomplish these goals by maintaining high standards for academics and for behavior. Students are expected to come to school each day prepared for class and ready to learn. In return, they will be provided with the best education possible.
Our school rules are Be responsible, Be safe, Show integrity and Be courteous. All students will be taught the behavioral expectations to go with these rules. Students who exhibit these behaviors will be rewarded and recognized. Students who need help with these rules will be retaught and reminded.
I invite you to be involved in your child’s education. My door is always open if you have concerns or questions. I want to work together with you to make this a successful year for your child. Please attend our Back to School Night, our award assemblies, parent conferences, our special activities throughout the year and Open House. Your involvement in your child’s education is key!
I look forward to meeting each of you. Here’s to a wonderful year!
